The last will & testament of Samuel R. McChesney - Recorded August 24th, 1814.

In the name of God Amen. I Samuel R. McChesney of the Town of Brunswick in the county of Rensselaer & State of New York, being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say),

I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife MARGARET MCCHESNEY one pair of working oxen now on my farm after said oxen shall become unable to do service one cow & four sheep & all my household furniture.

I do give & devise to my son ROBERT all my lands & tenements situate & lying in the town of Brunswick in the County & State aforesaid together with all my other freehold estate whatsoever to him the said Robert his heirs & assigns forever. I also give & bequeath unto my said son Robert my Ox Cart & the use of my oxen before-mentioned, so long as they are able to perform work, and I do hereby order my said son Robert to yield and give unto my dear beloved wife the use & occupancy of the north room of my dwelling house & the chamber above & the cellar below said room on my dwelling house & provide her with sufficient firewood ready for her fire & the pasturing of one cow & four sheep together with eight bushels of good merchantable wheat & eight bushels of good merchantable rye yearly, & every two hundred weight of barley(?) so long as she my dear beloved wife shall remain my widow, which privileges I give & bequeath unto my said beloved wife in lieu of her right of dower,

& I also give unto my daughter JANE out of my personal estate so much as my other daughters have had for their setting out, and I do hereby order & direct my said son Robert for & in consideration of the above-described premises to pay unto my several sons and daughters the sum of nine hundred & fifty three dollars in the manner hereinafter directed, that is to say
to my son ADAM three dollars
to my sons SAMUEL & JOHN each one hundred dollars within four years after my decease
to my son WALTER five hundred dollars as soon as he shall arrive to the age of twenty one years
and to each of my daughters SALLY, MARY, PEGGY, EVE & JANE the sum of fifty dollars within four years after my decease
& further I give & bequeath unto my son WALTER my horse

and lastly as to all the rest residue & remainder of my personal estategoods & chattels of what kind soever I will and order equally to be divided among my sons & daughters and do hereby appoint my brother WALTER MCCHESNEY and my friends MATTHIAS ABBOTT SENIOR & DANIEL SIMMONS executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.

For witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the thirteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fourteen.
